We love gum, church, and Fox TV!

Had to get Alyson’s hair cut today. We discovered a huge chunk of gum in her hair. Peanut butter was not going to do the trick! Fortunately, there’s a new haircut place (salon? shop? whatever) that’s having this big special to get people in the door. She had about two inches chopped off, and she still has hair below her shoulders! She was probably due for a trim, anyway. And we got it cheap, too!

Since I can’t get Fox here in the country, I was left without the Super Bowl tonight. Sounded like a decent game, though. Too bad the good guys didn’t win. Of course, I’d say that if the Eagles lost, too. Didn’t really have a huge emotional investment into who won or lost this one. It’s tough to root for the Patriots now, though. It’s like cheering for the Yankees or Duke. If you haven’t rooted for them all of your life, you’ve just jumped on the bandwagon. Even though we couldn’t watch the game, we did have Philly cheese-steaks and New England clam chowder for dinner. We’re so corny!

Since my preseason picks for the Super Bowl are always wrong (they usually don’t even make it into the playoffs), I’m going to go ahead and pick the Patriots for next year’s Super Bowl title. That way, someone else might have a chance (fix your defense, Indy – hint, hint).

I got to do announcements at church this morning. There’s always part of me that cringes a little when I think about getting in front of people (thanks, middle school!), but there’s usually another part that gets excited. Fortunately, that part keeps growing. At lest I’m not dreading my sermon next week (hopefully others aren’t dreading it, either). My topic has been changed from making the most of our time to how the fact that we live for not only this life but the afterlife impacts how we should handle our possessions and material things (“store up treasures in heaven” kind of stuff). It should be fun!
