Ironic

I received 1776 as a Christmas gift, and started reading it today. I figured I could get a little recreational reading done before I have to start reading for my winter session class.

It strikes me as ironic how the southerners in the Revolution, particularly Virginians, viewed the northern Yankees as undisciplined, “exceeding dirty and nasty,” and stupid. In the 18th century, it seems that New England was home to the “rednecks.”

My, how stereotypes have changed…
