End of School Party!
I came home from my last final (Greek…we’ll not go there) yesterday afternoon and was greeted by an old-fashioned outdoor barbecue, complete with bratwursts and homemade chocolate pie! Christy and the kids even made a card, congratulating my survival of Year 1 in my Emmanuel career. I was looking forward to a day of relaxation and celebration as we begin to actually arrange our apartment into something livable.
Then Christy tells me that Aiden is spending the night at a friends house. His first sleepover at a non-relative’s house. The kid is growing up too fast. I thought.
Then the phone rang. Marcus told us he had some money burning a hole in his pocket and invited us to dinner and a movie – Star Wars: Episode III. Free date night? Couldn’t pass it up. I played dumb with him about having already seen the movie. He even arranged for his sitter to include Alyson (thanks, Bob!).
So, the evening progressed and we all had a good time. It was nice to actually go to a restaurant and not have to say, “Sit down,” or “Stop licking the salt-shaker,” or anything like that. We got home and Christy got ready for bed, since she had to be at work this morning at 8:30.
At 10:45, the phone rang. It was the Browns, telling us that Aiden wouldn’t stop crying and he wanted to come home. Home? I thought. Why would he want to come home? He gets to sleep in a tent in Caleb’s room! You can’t beat that! In spite of the perfect sleepover atmosphere, I left to pick up Aiden.
As I crossed University Parkway on I-26, the car began to sputter. It died. The Browns came and checked out the car, suggesting it may be a fuel pump or fuel filter issue. They brought Aiden with them in their van, gave me the keys, and left in their other car.
Now we have to figure out what to do with the car and how to do it. We need to do it quick, because we were planning on going up to Indy on May 31 because that’s when Christy’s sister-in-law is scheduled for a C-section. Of course, we don’t get paid before then and we’re out of money!
I might go lay hands on the car. I’ve been praying about it all night. Maybe laying hands on it would work. Of course, James says the sick should be anointed with oil. I wonder if that transfers to cars, too?
Happy End of School Party!
Some day, I’ll actually get around to posting my thoughts about Episode III.

healing services
I personally think you should take the car to the next available healing service. Or perhaps the Episcopal church is hosting a vehicle blessing. But if you annoint it, make sure you use Castrol GTX. The ad says it drives out demons and cures bad breath.
