Here’s the Easter Rabbit, Hooray!

The week before our journey to Florida, the kids and I made one last trip to the Indy Zoo as members of the Indy Zoo Zoological Society (or whatever it’s called). I wondered if this would somehow make Animal Kingdom rather underwhelming. Of course, Animal Kingdom and a regular metro zoo aren’t exactly comparable. They’re really two different monsters.

Well...at least hes not passed out like he normally is.

The really cool thing about going on the day we went was that it was…well…cool. We were there early enough that the animals were awake. And it was just cool enough that the animals were mobile. This made my day because I rarely get to see the lions do anything but sleep. There was the one time I heard the lions actually roar at the San Diego Zoo, but that’s a different story.

The sign says it all.

While we were there, we went into the petting area and found the big-huge, Flemish Giant Rabbit! I pulled out my camera and took a few pictures for Julie (aka @juliebot), because she recently added a Flemish Giant Rabbit to her ever-expanding family.

Unfortunately, the Giant Rabbit didn’t really cooperate that much. He just kinda hid behind a big box. I couldn’t get the right angle and you really can’t see how massive this animal really is. But that’s OK. I think I get an ‘A’ for effort – right?

By the way, you have heard of the Easter Rabbit, right? No. Not the Easter Bunny. The Easter Rabbit!
