Basketball’s almost over (finally)
Today is the last game of the regular season for Aiden and the Tar Heels. I don’t know when the tournament will be, but they play the Sixers – that means he’ll get limited playtime during that game, since the Sixers always play the Tar Heels tough (yes, I’m scouting a 5-7 year old league…sue me!).
Aiden should have gotten a lot of time on the court today, since they were playing one of the “weaker” teams in the league. Unfortunately, he won’t be there. After going two days without showing signs of illness, he got up this morning at 5:30 and threw up twice. While Mike Davis probably should have been at the basketball game when he was sick, that’s not a reason to expose two little league teams to whatever he must have. I’m sad because I was going to bring the camcorder again. I videotaped him in one of the earlier games and wanted to record his progress (did I mention he almost stole the ball again last game? Yeah – he actually got called for a foul. It was one of the only fouls called in the game, but I was just proud of his attempt at being involved in the game. It’s pretty cool – every time Aiden does something like that, all of the parents cheer for him. They realize he’s the smallest and youngest kid on the team and it’s…just…cool…but I digress…). I’ll take the camcorder to the tournament game. Whenever that is.
So, I basically stayed up after Aiden got sick. I looked outside and the predicted snow had not fallen yet. Now there’s close to an inch on the ground. Even if he wasn’t sick, we might not have been able to get to the game anyway. The road to our house is treacherous when it’s icy out. It’s because of streets like ours that Carter County schools close down at the mere mention of snow or ice.

I’m sorry that Aiden is still sick. Jake is my little germ man now. He was barking really bad last night.
I know what you mean about the basketball. Logan is far from aggressive. I sat thre one game and told his dad that I’d be so happy if he got called for a foul. That would at least mean he was up in the mix. The child broke out that game and scored 4 points and got a bunch of rebounds. Took him all season to even touch the ball. I probably made a fool out of myself jumping up and cheering, but did I care? Heck no, that was my baby out there!!!
