Hallway encounters at ESR

The hallway on the second floor at school has become a place of complete randomness today. First, there’s the paper bags hanging on the walls. Although no one has given explicit instructions, every bag having a student’s name written on it and the blank kids’ Valentines piled on a table in the middle of the hallway lead you to the conclusion that we’re supposed to give Valentines to each other (I know – you’re standing in awe of my great detective abilities!). Just like in 4th grade.

So, I’m walking to Greek this morning and I run into one of my professors (he shall remain nameless at the moment). He shakes my hand and says, “I want you to know that I really enjoy reading the papers you’ve been turning in (they were reflections on the readings for class). Most others just regurgitated the information, but you really took the time to apply it to your own personal experiences. Good job.” I was speechless. I’ve been complimented on papers and such before, but not like that. It was completely out of the blue and was really nice for him to say. We’ll see if he thinks the same thing after this last paper I gave him.

Then, as I was walking to fix my lunch in the Student Lounge (it’s actually the Joseph Dampier Student Lounge, but that might be considered an insult to Dr. Dampier – the lounge could use a facelift) and another nameless person (she asked that she remain anonymous) walked up and gave me a Chick-fi-la sandwich for lunch.

It’s randomness like this that makes me want to get up in the morning and go to class.

Yeah, and that whole “love for learning” thing, too.
