A little too ironic

I’m taking a break from school related stuff. As always, I need to go over my Greek flashcards, but at least I can relax a little bit: my Power Point project outlining the 7 Ecumenical Councils is completed. I’ve made some good progress on my devotional reflection on a Christian symbol. It’s just four pages, and I might have to cut some stuff out.

Speaking of my devotional, I chose an icon of St. Bartholomew the Apostle. He’s easy to recognize – he’s always holding his skin in his arms. Yes, you read that correctly. Tradition has it that he was skinned alive for his faith in Christ.

So isn’t it some kind of twisted irony that he’s considered the patron saint of tanners and butchers?
