At my parents’…
It’s Spring Break, so we’ve made another pilgrimage to the great Hoosier state. We’re in Evansville till Tuesday, then spending the remainder of the break in Indy. Here’s what’s going on over the next week:
1) I’m meeting the campus minister from USI tomorrow morning for breakfast. It should be a good time. We’ve emailed back and forth several times, and we appear to have similar passions about the west side and reaching the 35 and under crowd. I have no idea what, if anything, will come out of this meeting, but I’m sure it will be encouraging and exciting!
2) Picking up my brother and sister-in-law from the airport in Indy on Friday night. They’ve been in California for two weeks on “business.” Yeah, hard life, ain’t it?
3) A family birthday party for Alyson on Saturday. Since it’s pretty unrealistic to invite all of our family to come to Tennessee for her birthday, we figured we’d have it a little bit early to give everyone a chance to celebrate!
Speaking of Alyson, Christy emailed this to me several weeks ago while I was working all day in the library at school. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud! What are we going to do with her?
Here’s the message:
By the way, Alyson kept saying she had something in her diaper. I kept asking her if she was poopy? “No, No” she kept saying. FInally, I layed her down to change her. When I opened her diaper, she said-“Oh, look, I laid an egg!!!” It was her plastic egg from her kitchen, and she knew it all along. She got a big kick out of her little joke on me! (end of message)
She’s turning into a little jokester – and I’m not sure if we’re going to be able to take it!
Speaking of the kids, Aiden has turned into a little banker, or something. At Christmas, he got a lot of Rescue Heroes as gifts. One of the toys came with a listing of even more toys to buy. He saw the Bi-Pod Jet, and said he wanted one. I told him he could save up his money and buy one himself. Thats exactly what he did! Every time one of his grandparents would give him cash, or he would find coins lying around, he’d put them in his money jar and say, “I’m gonna buy the Rescue Heroes Jet!” It was on sale a few weeks ago, and he was a couple dollars short, so we gave him some extra chores to do that week. That Saturday, we went to Target and he gave his money to the cashier. He hasn’t stopped playing with the airplane since! Now, Alyson thinks she’s going to buy a jet, too. We’re trying to convince her to buy something else. We’ll see…
Looks like my preschooler is the most financially conscious member of my family! Maybe he could give us some investment tips.
