“Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up.”

“…Cancer can take away all my physical abilities. It cannot touch my mind, it cannot touch my heart and it cannot touch my soul. And those three things are going to carry on forever.” Coach Jimmy Valvano ESPY speech – March 4, 1993.

I can’t imagine having to ever hear the words, “Your daughter has cancer.”

It’s even more overwhelming to think about hearing that the cancer had spread to her bones. I’ve gone through some scary experiences with my children, but nothing as terrifying as this. And that’s what Izzy’s mom and dad have experienced with their sweet four year old daughter.

Let that sink in for a moment.

Four.years.old.

Izzy and her family are now engaged in a battle that no preschooler should ever have to endure. But they aren’t doing it alone. In just a few short days, hundreds of people have rallied around the Mattocks family, joining in the fight for Izzy.

Because we are #IzzyStrong.

You can join the fight, too. You can become #IzzyStrong. The facebook page offers several ways to join in the fight, but so far, this is by far the coolest option:

Lantern Tree Photography is donating all session fees from the month of August to the Mattocks family to help make a small dent in their expenses. Yes, it’s a small dent, but I am convinced that enough of those dents can lead to a mountain being moved!

You might not be familiar with Shannon’s Lantern Tree Photography, but our family is. She’s the one who took our first professional family portraits after Mihret came home. And that picture at the top of this blog? She took that, too. She did a pretty fantastic job, don’t you think?

If you live anywhere in the Indianapolis area, this is a great way to join the Mattocks family in their fight for Izzy. So what are you waiting for? Go here to sign up for your August session today (and then share this opportunity with everyone you know)!

We will join in this fight together. We are #IzzyStrong!

If I understand correctly, the IzzyStrong
bracelets are available for purchase at
$1 a piece.  More information is available
on the facebook page.
