Reset Button

It’s only Monday and I’m already looking for the Easy Button. I went to Staples to see if I could find one. Of course they do have them available – for the low, low price of $4.99. But I pressed one just to see if it really did make things any easier.

No such luck.

So now I’m looking for a reset button.

Or maybe a CTRL + ALT + DELETE function for life.

I’ve started off the week on the wrong foot and I’m just ready for a do-over. A mulligan, if you will.

It all started Saturday afternoon. We went to the International Festival at Christy’s school. It was really neat seeing all of the projects her students created. We had a good time. After we left the Festival, we stopped at the Target in Anderson so Aly could buy a birthday present. The plan was to go to her friend’s house immediately after that so she wouldn’t be too late for the birthday party/sleepover.

Well, she was late to the party. Because of this

We thought it might be the battery, but a guy jumped our car and it wouldn’t start. All of the electrical items were still working inside the car, so it seemed that the problem could be a little more serious. So we called a friend from Muncie and he came to pick us up. Before leaving, he tried the battery thing one more time. He disconnected the connectors and did a little bit of cleaning, just to ensure they had a good connection (there was some corosion on one of the posts, but we had cleaned it for the first jump attempt). Long story short, it did turn out to be the battery. An old battery with little juice remaining plus a less-than-perfect connection leads to a car that won’t start.

I realize this could be a positive thing because it did turn out to be just the battery. But a 20-minute trip wound up taking something like 2 1/2 hours! And Alyson was very late to the party. Fortunately, she had a good time and we didn’t get a call from her in the middle of the night, asking to come home.

Fast forward to today.

Aiden’s class had a field trip today. I couldn’t join them for the first leg of the trip, but I could join them for lunch at the park. I got to the park a little early, so I figured I’d run up and grab a (sweet!) tea to drink. When I pulled onto the road after purchasing said tea, I had to make a sudden stop. I didn’t want my tea to fall out of its holder, so I reached down to grab it.

My thumb went through the cup.

Now there was a gaping hole in my cup with (sweet!) tea pouring out of it like a fountain. Tea was going everywhere. It was on my cell phone. It was on the camera. It even got on the driver’s seat. I couldn’t stop because I was in the middle of traffic. All I could do was try to minimize the damage.

I arrived at the park with my right leg and rear-end soaking in (sweet!) tea. That’s not the most pleasant experience. At least no one laughed. Well – not to my face anyway. 🙂

I did have to miss out on the rest of the field trip, though. Although Aiden understood (all I had to do was point to my wet derriere), I think he was still a little disappointed.

I’ve wiped the car clean several times, but it is still sticky in there. It’ll probably attract bees. And ants. And other bugs.

And that will probably attract spiders.

Which will attract birds. And I don’t need more bird droppings on my car thankyouverymuch.

So, yeah. It’s only Monday. But I’m already looking for that reset button. If you find it, let me know.
