IWTGBTP!

Yes, that’s right…

I want to go back to Philmont!

I asked my parents to send down a copy of the video made at one of our campfires at Crater Lake from 1996. I shouldn’t have done it. It made me miss it entirely too much.

I think part of it is the fact that this is the time of year that Phil-Staffers begin making plans to get out to New Mexico for the summer. Camps have been assigned and all that’s left is to pack up and go. During that wait, there’s a whole lot of dreamin’ going on. So, I have always felt a tug towards northeastern New Mexico since I worked there.

I think it’s even stronger this year because it has been 10 years since the Crater Lake Experience. That’s a monumental anniversary. I also think the fact that we just moved from the country to the “city” (if you count Johnson City as an actual city…hey, there’s traffic and you can’t see the stars at night – it counts for me!). That change in environment has somehow made me think of the cool clear evenings sitting on the cabin roof, watching the stars overhead. I guess they’re right – you don’t really know what you’ve got till it’s gone. I don’t know when (or even if) I’ll get back. As of right now, I’m dying to return.

As soon as I can find the speakers for the computer (they’re packed away somewhere…casualties of the move) and hook the VCR up to said computer, I’ll post some special 10th Anniversary Commemorative Recordings of the Crater Lake Campfire, 1996. I know I promised to post Tacos and Burritos. It will be up soon. I promise. I’ll put it up first.

So – stay tuned to MattDanTodd Land!
