It’s been one busy week! Finals are almost over. I have one more left. Well, it’s really not much of a final. We get to sit and watch the video of Dr. Shields’s farewell sermon – and critique him. After I’m done with that, I get to go help out at the kids’ school with…
For my Second Temple Jewish Lit. final, I had to compare & contrast Ben Sira with the Egyptian Satire of the Trades. In the essay, I wrote: The two differ, however, in that the Satire is just that – satire (although biblical scholars tend to read it literally). As a satire, it puts down the…
In honor of the end of finals, it’s time to do a little jig. Come on, dance with me… The Evolution of Dance It’s six minutes, but it might be the most fun six minutes of your day.
Spar-pole climbing Let me down! Originally uploaded by mattdantodd. The primary role of a Program Counselor at Crater Lake was to teach the campers the history of logging in the area and to give them an opportunity to climb a spar pole. In Greek this semester, we’ve been working through the Gospel of John. It was common knowledge that today’s final would involve chapters we had already translated in class. I think I’m gonna stick my notes under my pillow when I go to bed tonight. That way, I’ll be able to absorb all of the data for tomorrow’s Christian Tradition final. Osmosis should work, shouldn’t it? It’s like the “Think Method.” That worked for the Music Man, didn’t it? There’s trouble with a capital…
I forgot to talk about yesterday’s NTI final. I felt OK about it. The big essay question threw me off a little bit. I felt like I rambled a bit too much. I was a little uneasy about a few of the fill in the blank questions. Overall, I felt pretty mediocre about it. I…
I didn’t go to the study session for NTI tonight. Hopefully, that won’t have too much negative impact on my performance on the final tomorrow. If my past results are any indication, I should do OK. I’m at the Library right now. I’ve decided I should catch up on my reading for the class, since…
A few weeks ago, I ran over to school with the kids. We walked in the door and Dr. Wetzel, president of the school, invited the kids into his office to see his pet turtle. It’s a wooden turtle that’s hollow inside. He had Alyson take the shell off revealing…candy! I think he said it…
One down, one to go. I feel pretty good about the OTI test. I was a little surprised about one of the short answer questions. I guess he wanted to keep us honest about reading the material listed in the syllabus. I know I read it, but I read three or four other articles that…
