Dear Indiana Fraternal Order of Police…
I’m sure you do great things. You have told me as such in your phone calls in the past. But when your telemarketers act as rudely as they have to my family the past two-plus weeks, it certainly makes me reconsider whether I will ever give you money.
Ever.
It started innocently enough when my son answered the phone when you called. You asked for me. He said I wasn’t here, which really should be expected. After all, you called during business hours and I was at work.
You immediately hung up.
Then you kept calling. My son would answer. My daughter would answer. Each time, you hung up on them.
Classy.
Then my wife answered the phone. You asked for me. She said I wasn’t here. After all, it was during work hours and I was, in fact, at work. Rather than talk to her, you hung up on her, too.
Have I mentioned how classy that is?
Since you didn’t wait long enough for her to talk to you, she couldn’t ask you to please stop calling us. So she emailed you. A representative emailed back, apologizing for the inconvenience and said our request would be forwarded to the solicitation department.
That was two days ago. You called again this morning.
At 8:15.
I asked you not to call here again and explained the reasons why, then hung up. I hope you got the message. My family was asleep at the time. I don’t appreciate phone calls from solicitors that early in the morning. That’s why we’re on the Do Not Call Registry.
So, in case I haven’t been very clear,
Do.
Not.
Call.
Me!!
If I choose to make a donation to your organization, it won’t be any time soon because I don’t like to give money to rude people. But, if I choose to give you money, I’ll do it on my own terms.
Don’t call me again.
I’d hate to have to contact the Attorney General about the way the Indiana State Fraternal Order of Police has been harassing us.
Thank you, have a nice day.

I say, if they call again, then let Mel Gibson talk to them.
I’ve had the exact same experience. The caller was so rude that he was talking over me. When I said “is this a recording?” (because he certainly wasn’t listening to what I was saying) he paused to say no, and then dove right back in to his “script.”
Oh man do I have a story to share with you!
About 9 years ago, my ex and I were living in a small apartment, barely scraping by.
The calls began only days after receiving our new phone line. I figured the call was for the previous owner of the line, but I was wrong, they asked for my husband. I told them that he was not at home, but that we were not interested in donating any money to them. The response I got, “Why don’t you let us talk to your husband, that’s who we need to speak with, let the man of the house make the decisions where donations are concerned.” I was PISSED! They called us every day for two weeks, 8am, noon, 5pm. Finally I answered again and told them to stop calling. The response then: “Mrs. W, the phone line is in your husband’s name, you don’t have the authority to tell us to stop calling.” They hung up. Finally they called when my ex was home. He promised them $25 to get them to leave him alone. Of course, I refused to let him give them a cent after the way they spoke to me.
The FOP was so upset, one man told my ex, “You entered a binding verbal agreement to donate money, if you don’t send the money, you violated the contract and you can be taken to court.”
Misogyny, rudeness, and legal threats? I don’t care what the FOP does with their money I’m not supporting them!
That’s just wrong. Absolutely wrong. An article was just published in the Muncie Star Press two days ago. Looks like we’re not the only ones who have had issues with extremely rude telemarketers.
Apparently, they got the message from me when I told them off and told them to remove me from their calling list. I haven’t been called since that day five months ago.
**knock on wood**
What the heck is going on in Indiana with the FOP, are they like a fire department that won’t respond to your call for a fire at your place because you didn’t donate to them. I think that’s called extortion, I don’t think a public entiy has that right to do anything other than to protect and serve the public, after all your paid with our taxes. You should not go to telemarketing, that tells me you already have enough money to hire someone else to do your bidding. What a BAD JOKE.
How do you get them to stop calling?!! We have told them NUMEROUS times to put us on their do not call list!!!! Telemarketers get more of donation then where it is suppose to go.
I told the guy off and told him I was going to report them to the Attorney General. Apparently, that doesn’t usually work, but it did in my case.
I’ve been told to call the local FOP and complain to them. They might not even know what’s going on.
Sorry you’re being harassed by them!
