Christmas in Pendleton

Took the kids to the Christmas in Pendleton Festival last Saturday. Alyson and Christy discovered it last year, but Aiden was sick so the guys missed out on all the fun. The festivities started off in anticipation of the parade (with Santa as the grand finale). As people lined the streets, they handed out styrofoam balls and the town commenced in one gigantic snowball fight! The camera’s batteries died just as the battle began. Fortunately, there was a convenience store a few blocks away.

How…convenient!

I missed the bulk of the snowball throwing, but still managed to capture some of the action.

I should have used the video setting. I didn’t think of that, though. Maybe next year.

After the parade, it was time to walk around the shops. You could say we were following their suggestion to “Go Green. Buy Local,” but we’d just driven a half an hour to get there, so that probably doesn’t count.

Then the fun really began – Caedmon (and his Mom & Dad) arrived. It’s so fun watching the kids play with their cousin!

We decided to have a snack at a local coffeehouse. Alyson grew tired of waiting in line, so she decided to make her own entertainment.

In case you can’t figure it out, she decided to make a snow angel on the hardwood floor. Maybe she was inspired by all of the fake snow outside.

While we had our snack and drank our warm beverages, Caedmon’s fascination with the window grew. I tried to get a picture of his face pressed against the glass, but I couldn’t get the right angle.

Aiden ambushed Alyson with the fake snow. Fortunately, she had a sense of humor about it.

Judging by the trash can, I think it’s safe to say that we weren’t the only ones who had a good time!
