Why, hello, there! It’s been a while. Sorry about that. Hopefully you haven’t forgotten about me. Do I need to reintroduce myself? Hopefully this little life update will be enough.

Things have come up. Lots of things. BIG things. Important things. I know. You get it. It’s been busy.

But believe me. Things have been super busy since I last posted. Here’s a brief rundown of what I’ve been up to:

March

Books

I know I promised you a monthly update on the books I’m reading. Well…the March update (which is really a February update) is currently sitting as a Draft. I’m almost done with it, but not quite. So it’s been sitting around, twiddling its thumbs while it’s been waiting for me to have a few moments to breathe. I’ll finish it soon. I promise. But this series is going to have to go on a brief hiatus for a while because…well…it’s time to be honest…I haven’t read anything since then. I’ve tried a couple of times, but I just haven’t had the time. Bear with me. You’ll see why. And you’ll understand.

I hope.

Work

Y’all. We opened a massive expansion to one of my favorite exhibits at The Children’s Museum. And I got to see a ton of people at the Influencer Preview Event.

I’m not going to lie. Like everyone, this pandemic has taken its toll. I’m weary. All of us are. But it warmed my tired little heart to be able to spend some time with people I haven’t seen in ages. And it was so stinking great to be able to share this amazing exhibit with them – and the rest of the world.

I loved every minute of it. But, I’ll be honest, I was exhausted.

A family vacation

With Aiden finishing college soon, we realized this could be our last opportunity to have a big Spring Break Vacation together as a family. So we made the most of it. We drove (and drove…and drove) to Texas, spent time in San Antonio and Waco, then drove to Oklahoma City. I promise you, posts about this trip are coming soon. But you’re going to love some of the stories I’ll be able to share. In the meantime…here’s a family picture from the trip…

Oh yeah – we bought a house!

As if things weren’t chaotic enough, we closed on a house the day before we left for Texas.

Yep. We’ve entered the wonderful world of homeownership. What were we thinking?

April

Moving, moving, moving…

Although we hired movers this time, there was still a whole lot to be done at the rental house before we vacated. There was also a lot to be done at the new house before we moved in.

And don’t forget packing! April was a busy month.

Saying goodbye to an old friend

I’d known Sarah since middle school. She was a shining light for Jesus. And now she’s free from cancer.

I drove to Evansville, said goodbye, and saw a lot of people I hadn’t seen in…decades. Several of us decided that we really shouldn’t wait until another funeral or class reunion to get together again. So we’re doing that soon.

And now we’re suddenly in the middle of May

The last few months have been a whirlwind, with a few stressful moments thrown in, just to keep us on our toes. And now we’re suddenly at the end of the school year. There’s baseball to be played, an old school district to say goodbye to, and a new house to finish settling into, a choir concert to attend, and a dance recital to prepare for.

Our days are full, and I don’t know if I’d have it any other way.

But there’s one more update I need to share.

A new addition

In case you hadn’t seen any of our family’s announcements on social, we have a new addition around here. I’ll give all the details in an upcoming post (I promise it won’t take me three months to share), but here’s a sneak peek.

Stay tuned…

I have drafted a lot of posts over the past few months, and I’ve published none of them. I may have allowed Perfect to become the enemy of Good. But, as you can see from this brief life update, it’s really been a matter of only having so many hours available in each day. But things are settling down. Finally. And I can devote some time to finishing these posts. So be on the lookout for updates about my sous vide experiments, our family vacation, and everything about our move from being renters to home owners.

Oh, and a new project or two that might be coming soon.

So stay tuned. We’re gonna have some fun.
