Mihret’s epic expedition through Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Thanks to the combined efforts of the Indiana Children’s Wish Fund and Give Kids The World Village, Mihret was able take an amazing trip to Central Florida, visiting amazing amusement parks and meeting Hope the Dolphin. We got to tag along with her.

I’ve lost track of how many posts I’ve shared about our experience, but I can tell you that we’re heading down the homestretch. I think. But even if we’re only halfway there, it’s worth it. It’s worth it to take the time to share what we were able to experience so I can shine the spotlight on these wonderful organizations. They’re truly doing some remarkable things. So please remember that as I continue sharing Mihret’s magical journey with the world. Because organizations like the Indiana Children’s Wish Fund and Give Kids The World Village really are the heroes of this story.

Before we go any further, let’s go ahead and address the elephant in the park. What’s that on Mihret’s face? Well, it’s face paint, of course! And she’s painted as a princess kitty. Pretty adorable, if you ask me.

A quick overview…

Everyone, except for Mihret, had visited Animal Kingdom before, so we knew what to expect and had a pretty good idea of what we wanted to do in order to maximize our expedition through Animal Kingdom.

We saw animals.

Lots of animals. One of Christy’s favorite features in all of Disney World is Animal Kingdom’s safari ride. We rode it the first time we visited Animal Kingdom 10 years ago. It has changed a bit since then, as expected. And it did not disappoint.

We rode rides.

The first thing we did when we entered Disney’s Animal Kingdom was make a left towards the Avatar area. I wasn’t really a fan of Avatar when I saw it 1500 years ago. But I was curious to see how they were going to create this alien world in an Animal Kingdom park. I must say, I was pretty impressed.

We rode Na’vi River Journey.

Then we rode Avatar Flight of Passage. I didn’t take any pictures of this one. But it was pretty amazing. I’d heard it was one of the best rides in the whole resort. I’m not gonna lie. It was pretty close to the best one we rode while we were at Disney.

If I had any lingering regrets from the last time we visited Disney, it was the fact that I didn’t ride Expedition Everest. I don’t have to kick myself anymore. No more regrets!

A brief interlude…

While we were in Florida, my place of employment made a big, VERY BIG announcement, one that will have a HUGE impact on the museum for decades to come. So it shouldn’t be any huge surprise that I had dinosaurs on the brain. Especially the giant four-legged herbivore type…

And, of course, we met Mickey!

She held on to him and he knew exactly what to do while escorting Mihret to meet Minnie.

I had to join in the fun, too.

What does a kitty princess need after meeting her favorite Disney characters? Why, she needs a magic Mickey bubble wand.
