PopCon Indy 2025: What we’re excited about
Mihret and I have received two press passes to attend and cover PopCon in Indy. The opinions expressed are mine and my daughter’s alone.
PopCon Indy has become an annual tradition for Mihret and me. It’s a highlight of our year. It’s such an encouraging and affirming atmosphere. Mihret loves dressing up and showing off her costume to the con. And people’s reactions make her smile from ear to ear.
Except when she was Wednesday Addams last year. Because…you know…Wednesday doesn’t smile.

And speaking of cosplay, it’s pretty amazing. The panels are fun. The celebrities are memorable. We usually wind up spending most of our time in the Vendor Hall because there’s just so much cool stuff and so many cool people to see.
They say that PopCon is a place where every fan finds their place. And it’s definitely true for us. It’s not hyperbole to say that we love PopCon Indy.
We’ve been plotting our return ever since we left PopCon Indy 2024. And now it’s June 2025. PopCon Indy is right around the corner! June 25-27, to be exact.
Key PopCon Indy 2025 guests and activities we’re excited about
They’re always adding new shows and activities and things for PopCon Indy attendees. And Mihret is particularly excited about one of this year’s new offerings called Feel the Pop – a K-pop and J-pop dance competition!
Thanks to some friends at school, she’s really gotten into k-pop over the past year. She’s going to have a blast watching this competition. She’s also looking forward to meeting these celebrities and/or attending their celebrity panels:
- Reba Buhr, the voice of Rose Lavillant and Juleka Couffaine in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir
- Mela Lee, the voice of Tikki, also in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir and Miraculous: A New Cycle
- Mick Wingert, the voice of Dragon Master Po in the Kung Fu Panda TV series
- Jason Griffith, the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog and Shadow the Hedgehog on the TV series and in the video games
- Debi Derryberry, best known as the voice of Jimmy Newtron, she’s also Draculaura in Monsters High and the alien toys that were rescued from the claw game in Toy Story
- The Circle City Ghostbusters
As you can see, she’s a big fan of voice actors. I don’t think she knows about the PopCon Fashion Show – another new addition to PopCon Indy – but I think she’ll really enjoy that, too.
Me? I’m looking forward to:
- The Ultimate Cosplay Championship
- Fan and celebrity panels
- Laura Prepon – that’s right, Donna Pinciotti aka Hot Donna from That `70s Show
- Meeting cool writers in Author Alley – maybe they’ll give me some writing tips
- Discovering amazing creators on the Vendor Floor
- I’d love to take in a few of the films showing at the PopCon Film Festival
Will we see you at PopCon Indy?
While we’re still planning our weekend, I know that both of us will be there on Saturday. The two of us could wind up there all three days – we’ll know closer to the convention. I do know, though, that I’ll be helping Mihret with her annual tradition – the PopCon Recap on her YouTube channel – Magical Mihret. I also hope to talk to people for my own little side project, THE MattDanToddcast Podcast.
It’s so much fun meeting all kinds of amazing and creative people during PopCon Indy – one of our favorite weekends of the year. I hope to meet YOU there this year!
Tickets for one-day, weekend, and VIP passes are available online. Oh – and children 10 and under are free with a paid adult admission so you can bring the whole family!
