Shortly after I joined the Twitter X community back when it was all fresh and new and beautiful, I quickly began to follow a bunch of parents in Indianapolis. Long before “social media influencer” was really a thing, I was already following many of the Central Indiana social media movers and shakers. One person I heard about early on was this guy named Creed. He seemed like a pretty cool dude.
This was back in the day when there was this relatively new thing dubbed “dad blogging.” I stumbled upon a worldwide dad blogging community on Facebook. Again, I heard a lot about this guy named Creed. He seemed like a pretty cool dude.
So I followed him on social media.
Eventually, I somehow managed to squirm my way into becoming a local “social media influencer” and wound up finally meeting Creed face-to-face in Louisville. I didn’t think to take a picture with him, but I promise – I was not far from him in this photo that he posted on Instagram. We kept running into each other at local social media events after that. We even wound up rooming together at the Dad 2.0 Conference in Washington, DC.
Everyone was right. He’s a good dude.
We’re both semi-retired from the regional social media influencer world. But we still run into each other every once in a while. He’s still a good dude.
A gentleman and a baseball scholar
So when he shared that he was given the opportunity to participate in a symposium at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY, I knew this was a story that needed to be told on my podcast. A longtime mantra in our dad blogging Facebook community is, “Just ask.” It’s never a bad thing to put yourself out there. The worst thing that happens is that someone will say “No.” Creed’s journey to the Hall of Fame is an illustration of the phrase we kept repeating to each other. Just ask.
So, without further ado, I present to you the man, the myth, the legend, and now a newly-minted Baseball Hall of Fame historian, my friend Creed.
