The Star Wars Day Eve Holiday Special (THE MattDanToddcast episode VII)
A long time ago…
OK, it was really just about a month ago…
I was thinking about THE MattDanToddcast and how I should recognize Star Wars Day with some kind of Star Wars related post. I realized that the podcasts I really enjoy listening to generally involve some type of conversation between two (or more) people. This, of course, is in addition to the conversation that should be happening between the podcaster and the audience, but that’s probably a different post for a different time. I knew I didn’t want to be the only one talking in the podcast’s Star Wars episode. While I’m sure I could wax poetic about the impact the film franchise had on my life, I didn’t want the episode to be just about me. In fact, I really don’t want the podcast to be about me at all. It was time to give more people the opportunity to step up to the mic and add their voice to the growing chorus.
I struggled with the format. Do we talk about the newer Disney+ series? What about specific storylines? How about the music?
Then it hit me.
Just let them talk. Ask a few questions and let them share their thoughts and their experience. So that’s what I did.
I gathered up some of the most dedicated Star Wars fans that I know and recorded our conversation as we geeked out about the films’ legacy. I asked some super-basic questions, like “Which episode is your favorite?” Who’s your favorite character?” and “What do you think of the recent TV series?”
And we were off to the (pod) races.
First up: Tracy from high school
I’ve known Tracy since high school. We were both in marching band.
And she was one of the most hardcore Star Wars fans I knew at the time. She could quote Princess Leia zingers like no one else. We would have whole conversations made up of just Star Wars quotes. Yeah. We were geeks.
So when I started thinking about this series, Tracy was one of the first people who came to mind. I’m so glad she agreed to do this!
Here’s the episode. I hope you have as much fun listening to it as I had recording it! And don’t forget to hit that “subscribe” button! You don’t want to miss this series. This is the way.
Why Star Wars Day Eve? Well, we have Christmas Eve. We have New Years Eve. And there’s even a Boonta Eve in The Phantom Menace. Why not extend the Star Wars celebration even more and recognize Star Wars Day Eve? It just makes sense.
I have spoken.
