Help Aiden serve in Kenya

Aiden wrote this post to share with you the exciting opportunity he has to serve families in Kenya this summer. It was originally posted here.

Hi everyone!

In case I haven’t met you, my name is Aiden! I am currently a student at Taylor University and will be starting my senior year in the fall! I am an Orphans and Vulnerable Children major, which focuses on equipping us as students with how to best serve children who come from traumatic backgrounds, whether that be in a national aspect or a global one.

Part of my requirements for the major is a global practicum. This summer, I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with The Boaz Project in Greenwood, IN. For the first 2 weeks of July, I will be able to go to Kenya with a team and lead VBS camps for kids who are in the Kenyan orphanage, teaching them about the love of Christ. I will also have the amazing opportunity to lead some house-parent training, helping provide them with an understanding of stress and trauma in children, as well as show them some great practices on how best to support their kids!

We need your support

I can’t do this on my own. Our team needs your support. Here are two ways you can support our mission in Kenya.

Support through prayer

One of the best ways I can ask you all to help with this trip is with prayer! I ask that you pray for the heart of the team I am going with, that we can find ways to best love the kids that we are going to work with. I also ask that you pray for the hearts of the kids; so that they can experience the love of Christ through us and in a way they might not have experienced before.

Will you join me in praying for everyone involved in this effort?

Support with finances

Of course, with this trip, comes some fundraising. Over the next month, I must raise around $3,200 for the trip to cover airfare, food, accommodations, an interpreter, and materials. If you do feel a call to donate funds, I would be very grateful! If you do feel the Lord calling you to support me in any way financially, one of the best ways is by making a tax-deductible contribution through The Boaz Project. All administrative fees have been waived.

I only ask that you donate if you feel led to donate. The most important support you can give is a prayer for the trip as a whole and the team that I will be with. I will leave you with some of the writings from Paul on how we are to love in our actions and with joy:

“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality”

 Romans 12:11-13

Much love to you all!
Aiden
