Holidays for the rest of us?
Festivus
Back in the ’90s, a certain show introduced the world to Festivus. With its unadorned aluminum pole, the “Airing of Grievances,” and “Feats of Strength,” this alternative to Christmas has taken on a life of its own. Every December 23, I fully expect my social media timeline to be filled with people airing their grievances, displaying feats of strength, and wishing all of us a Festivus for the rest of us!
Friendsgiving
Friendsgiving is also a thing. Its origin is less defined, but Merriam-Webster says it started gaining prominence in 2011, thanks to a national ad campaign and its reference in a TV show about real housewives. Regardless of its beginnings, I love the idea of friends getting together and sharing a meal together. Friendsgiving is a beautiful mashup of friends and Thanksgiving. Right?
Galentine’s Day
Over the last few years, I’ve occasionally seen Galentine’s Day show up on my social media feeds. And the trend is growing. What’s Galentine’s Day? Well…I wouldn’t know. I’ve never been to one. But I can tell you this about it:
“It’s like Lilith Fair minus the angst. Plus frittatas.”
Leslie from a certain show that takes place in Indiana
While I’ve never participated in such an event, I hear that Galentine’s Day a big deal. If I *were* to participate in that day, do you know what I’d plan on having? Seven Sisters Scones – especially the Strawberry Champagne variety. It mixes the dryness of champagne with the sweetness of strawberries. Perfect for Galentine’s Day. You should get you some.
OK. You don’t really have to limit yourself to their Strawberry Champagne scones. There’s plenty of other flavors that would be perfect for a Galentine’s Day brunch. Like Chocolate Raspberry. Or Cinnamon Roll. They have sweet scones. But they also have savory scones. Like Bacon, Cheddar and Chive.
That’s right. I said bacon.
Mmmmm…bacon…
And here’s something to sweeten the deal: You can save 10% sitewide with code HEART10, now through the end of February. So what are you waiting for? Give them a try.
Even if you’re not celebrating Galentine’s Day.
Because I bet they’d go over well on Valentine’s Day, too.
