Toyota i-ROAD: transportation from the near future
Like many of my neighbors, it takes me a minimum of 45 minutes to get to work – and that’s if I leave before the morning rush gets started. The drive home? It’s not unheard of for it to last an hour or longer. I realize Indianapolis traffic is nothing like the congestion in Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, or Los Angeles, but it can get pretty dicey at times. This past winter, it wasn’t unusual for my commute home to take at least 90 minutes. If there’s one thing I dread about my job, it’s dealing with the potential traffic jams to and from work.
The traffic congestion can be pretty frustrating at times. And while that’s a big concern, pollution’s an even bigger concern. We are prone to Knozone Action Days in Indianapolis during the warmer months. We have several days a year where the weather makes conditions favorable for an increase in air pollution. And that’s a bad thing. Because I’m trying to breathe that air. And so are my neighbors.
Fortunately, companies like Toyota are working on the next generation of automobile that will help with traffic congestion, minimize parking spaces, and reduce CO2 emissions. When combined with smarter public transportation the Toyota i-ROAD is one step into a brighter, greener future. And it looks pretty amazing.
With technology like this just around the corner, the future looks pretty impressive. I love seeing creative minds come together to work on solving big problems. Toyota’s i-ROAD is looking to pave the way with safer, greener, and more reliable transportation.
