How YOU can help 250,000 people with a year-end gift

Shinshicho Care Center

2013 is ticking away.

If you’re still looking for somewhere to make a year-end contribution that will count towards your 2013 taxes and want to make a HUGE impact on thousands of lives, I humbly ask that you consider supporting the Shinshicho Mother and Child Health Center in Ethiopia. This project is very near and dear to our family’s heart.

Here’s what I wrote about the Shinshicho care center a few months ago:

Only 3% of births in Ethiopia are attended by a medical professional. In Ethiopia, 25,000 women die every year because of pregnancy-related complications because they can’t get to medical care in time. Let that number soak in. Twenty five thousand. As a whole, “as much 80 percent of the health problems in the country are due to preventable communicable and nutritional diseases.” That’s a far cry from the access to the most basic health care that is readily accessible here in the States.

The hospital is still incomplete. The finances are still needed. In the meantime, 250,000 people are waiting for improved care. That’s a quarter million people that we can help today. I want to change the world. I think you do, too. Helping to provide health care to so many people is a simple way to see that change.
