Preparing for my first Gen Con
Thanks to the good folks at Doing Indy, I won tickets to Gen Con this year. Although I’ve always wanted to go, I’ve never been before. I’m excited. And I’ll be honest: I’m a little bit intimidated and overwhelmed.
I’ve already read some good insight from Geeking in Indiana, and I’ve received some pretty good advice from Gen Con vets via twitter:
@mattdantodd The best tip I can offer is "be yourself". #GenCon is about the people. Be genuine and you'll make friends for life.

@jwmart69 @lifewithfelber @mattdantodd Don't over commit. Spend time in the dealer hall checking out games. Meet people. Have fun.

@jwmart69 @mattdantodd Carry light, shower, be polite but don't be afraid to talk to people. The Ram is good food…

@jwmart69 @mattdantodd …Steak and Shake is good food on a budget. Schedule time in the dealer room and try new things. Eat and sleep.

But I still feel woefully unprepared. That being said, I’m committed to having a fabulous time at Gen Con, even if it means that I only wind up people-watching.
If anyone else has any helpful hints to pass along, I’m all ears!
