46: the Series (Episode 3: Basketball Players)

23, 23...you know that's 46, which fits the theme...

In the shadow of the Super Bowl hype is an important game today in Hoosier land. The Cream and Crimson are heading to Lafayette to renew their rivalry today with the Black and Gold army of Darkness (unfortunately, this is a home game for them, so they won’t be wearing black as their main color tonight).

If you watch basketball for any length of time, you’re bound to wind up with a list of your favorite basketball players. I’ve decided to write such a list. Now, keep in mind, this isn’t a list of who I think are the best players. These are the players I have loved watching for one reason or another. Obviously, my children aren’t included. They’re my favorites. By far.

Also keep in mind that I really didn’t start watching basketball until around 1986. So you can’t complain about why I didn’t include players like Scott May or Quinn Buckner. I never watched them play.

And I’m not including any current players (except a few current NBA players…but I’m really not watching them anymore because it’s tough for me to get into the NBA. In fact, you won’t find very many NBA players on this list. There’s nothing against it. It just that…well…I’ve never really gotten into the pro game very much).

If you’ve followed my blog for very long, it probably isn’t a surprise who my first two are…

  1. Calbert Cheaney
  2. Kyle Taber
  3. Scott Haffner
  4. Marty Simmons
  5. Steve Alford

Go ahead. Tell me who I should have on here. I probably have my reasons for not including them, though.
