Kings Island
As mentioned in my previous post, we took the family to Kings Island last week. The last time I was there was with a high school group from my Student Ministry days. Alyson was only a few months old and I remember thinking, “What in the world am I thinking? I have a wife and two very small kids at home. What are they going to do if I happen to fall out of this ride or it kills me somehow?” as I was getting strapped into the Vortex. Apparently, this revalation didn’t stop me for too long. I’m pretty sure I rode the Vortex at least twice during that visit.
I also remember walking through the Nickelodeon Kids’ Area when I came to the realization that the next time I came to Kings Island, this was where I’d most likely be spending most of my time.
Well, I was right. And that’s OK. Because we had a blast! We didn’t take nearly as many pictures as I’d hoped, but that’s OK.
They even went up, up, up into the air on a crazy ride called Plankton’s Plunge, where you’re dropped from high in the sky a couple of different times.

Yeah. Our kids are a little crazy. We got there a half an hour after the park opened and stayed to watch the closing fireworks. That certainly makes for a long day, especially when you add approximately two hours of driving each way. But it was totally worth it.
Besides, Alyson got to bring home a new pet that she won in one of the carnival games. I definitely got a few glances from people when I carried it to the car…
Yes, this dolphin is HUGE!! It took up the entire trunk.
But at least it wasn’t a goldfish that was destined to die in the morning.
