Kentucky Horse Park (part 2)

Having grown up a Hoosier fan living on the Hoosier side of the Indiana/Kentucky border and after living in the center of Wildcat country for a time, I’ve made no secret about my general distaste for the University of Kentucky. Sorry. It’s in my blood. I’ve heard all the Kentucky jokes in the book. It’s nothing personal, really. I know many Kentucky fans and they’re good people. They’re a little misguided, but they’re good people all the same.

The Horse Park has a really large barn. It’s one of, if not the largest horse barn in the world (or something like that). I immediately thought of all of the Kentucky jokes I heard while growing up when I heard the name they’d given the barn.

That’s right. They call it ‘The Big Barn.’

I was tempted to say something about the name’s creativity being a sure sign that it was named by a Kentucky grad, but I bit my tongue. Hard.

Conveniently enough, The Big Barn just so happens to sit on…you guessed it: Big Barn Road.

I love my Kentucky friends, but I’m sorry. I couldn’t resist.
