Watching out for ‘Roid Rage

At approximately 1 a.m. Sunday night/Monday morning, Alyson woke Christy up saying, “My face itches and it hurts.” She had the beginnings of a strange looking rash on her face. We gave her an antihistamine and she went back to bed. When she got up in the morning, the rash was worse, and it surrounded her eyes.

So – off to the doctor.

The doctor confirmed what we had begun to suspect: poison ivy. Again. This is the second time she’s had it in about a month. I think if you even say the words poison and ivy in the same paragraph, she’d break out in a rash.

The doctor said that if her eyes start to swell shut, then she needed to come back for a shot. For now, she’s supposed to take lots of oatmeal baths (which she actually enjoys) and is on a rather strong regimen of steroids.

I expect her to break the home run record soon.
