Stay Classy there, Coach
You know, I try to keep this blog family-friendly. I try to avoid words that some would deem inappropriate and topics that could really get out of hand. That being said, I’m sorry for the following post and if the word “sucks” offends you. I’m just the messenger.
Here’s what a college basketball coach said to a bunch of fans last night:
“I do know one thing, though. I think Indiana will suck. Don’t put that on the Internet.”
Who could have said that last night? Maybe the coach of a longtime rival, like Kentucky or Purdue. Nope. They have more class than that. It was our new favorite friend, Bruce Weber. You know – the guy who couldn’t let go of the fact that Eric Gordon de-committed to play for him. The guy who refused to shake hands with the IU coaches after their games this year. The guy who complains about not getting a fair shake in the media. The guy who led his team to a stellar 16-19 record last year and lost to Indiana twice.
Yeah. Bruce Weber is a real classy guy.
And I know class. Believe me. I grew up watching Indiana basketball. I’ve seen class before.
And notice – even Knight didn’t say that Purdue sucks. I don’t care if fans say it. Maybe even coaches say it behind closed doors. But this guy just sounds like he can’t let things go. Maybe he should be more concerned about fixing his own record than how IU is going to fare in the standings. Maybe it’s time for Bruce to turn the page.
I certainly hope that the Hoosiers’ group of walk-ons and transfers mops the floor with Weber’s team. That would be poetic, wouldn’t it?

And yes, saying that what Knight did here was classy is obviously a joke. Maybe it wasn’t a funny joke. But it was a joke.
