Quick update

Yesterday:

* Buffet at Sahib. Better than I remembered it!
* I finally started reading Quiet Strength. I’ve had it since Christmas, but didn’t really have the chance to start reading it. It’s been a pretty easy read so far.
* Took a 2 1/2 hour nap yesterday. Now that’s what vacation is all about, right?
* Went bowling with the Eldreds last night. Aiden has come up with a new method of bowling that was really quite effective. He bowled a 102 (with the gutter guards).

I just saw a cartoon of a kangaroo performing Momma Said Knock You Out. It was…odd.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the relatively long memories sports fans have. If your team has been somehow slighted by another team or a member of the media, there’s a pretty good bet that “Fill-in-the-blank” Nation will never forgive said slight. Here are a few examples that I’ve seen over the past few years……

  • Friday’s Sermon

I preached my final sermon for OT Preaching yesterday.  In spite of my ‘writer’s block’ Thursday night, it went really well.  The class’s reaction to is was overwhelmingly positive, too.  One person in the class has a degree in creative writing and told me I had ‘excellent storytelling skills.’  Yes – that made me feel…

  • Marwedisms – the Return

Dr. Shields delivered his “farewell” sermon yesterday in Chapel. It was a good sermon recalling the many lessons he learned from churches during his journey. I’m disappointed that the turnout wasn’t as large as it should have been. I don’t think many people realized this was his final sermon. Dr. Shields has a unique sense…

tmatt’s a right-winger! At least that’s what these people think. Funny, I don’t remember thinking that when I had him as a Communications prof. I never really thought that when I read his articles or his posts. He never really shared much political philosophy in the classroom (although he had us listen to Rush Limbaugh…

  1. You’re on VACATION!!!! Did you have one of those awesome fruit drinks at the restaurant? I still think it is the best thing I have ever had.

    1. They have a mango drink that’s available with the buffet. I wasn’t a big fan of it, but the kids loved it!

No, we didn’t order the special fruit drinks. We did think about it for a while, though.

      Yay for vacations!
