Thinking Out Loud: Post-celebration edition

  • Christy graduated Saturday! Woo Hoo!!
  • Now Christy needs to get a job. I never realized that the teaching profession was such a dog-eat-dog world until recently. It really doesn’t help when you have limited access to schools like we do here. Yeah, there are tons in the Indy area, but that’s an hour commute each way. Not impossible. Just extremely difficult – especially with the gas prices the way they are.
  • Over 900 applications were turned in to an area school system. For three open positions.
  • Friday was the church’s Dinner for Mothers & Daughters. We had so many ladies show up that we had to set up an extra table at the last minute! That’s a great problem to have! I’d much rather set up stuff because we’re out of room than take stuff down because it makes it feel too empty.
  • The men served the dinner. Aiden helped us prepare and serve it. He was gung-ho about the whole thing.
  • Alyson was sad because she couldn’t help us serve. Had to tell her she’ll have her chance next month.
  • Church’s computer crashed two Sundays ago. As I was about to print off the church bulletin…and my sermon. With no backup. Yeah. Not fun. While I didn’t go into panic mode, I did have to run home to re-create and print off everything within about an hour window.
  • Spent all afternoon Tuesday chatting with Dell’s customer service. Much better experience than last time.
  • New hard drive arrived in less than 24 hours. I couldn’t install it until yesterday because this week has been so crazy!
  • Now I have to re-download all of the applications (Palm Desktop, Audacity, etc.) I had on the laptop.
  • News out of Burma is unbelievable. So much destruction. So much death. Heart-breaking.
  • The kids helped fix dinner last night for Mother’s Day. They’d better watch it, or we might expect them to help out more often!
  • Aiden’s first baseball game is tomorrow night.
  • I’m in the process of getting my office organized. I’m off to Staples to buy a new four-drawer file cabinet.
  • Did I mention that I’m proud of Christy? That’s because I am.
