Feeling Like a Teenager Again
When I was in Middle School, I took over our neighborhood’s paper route. At the Courier & Press had both a morning and an evening edition. So, I was fortunate enough to have the afternoon route.
I delivered papers every afternoon on my bike. When it was too cold or too rainy, Mom would drive me around on the route. There were approximately 80 customers (I think the most I had was 100 for the Sunday morning paper) and we’d eventually get done in about an hour. I could do it on bike in 45 minutes or so.
Of course, after I got my license, I used my car to deliver the papers. I got pretty good at lining up the newspaper with the box and flipping it in without having to come to a complete stop.
Little did I know such experience would prepare me for what I’m doing today in a church-related setting! I’ve spent all day driving around the neighborhoods, delivering invitations to our upcoming Easter events (here’s what the invitation looks like…kind of). Every time I pull up to the paper boxes, it feels like I’m doing the same thing I did every afternoon for 7 years. I even have a similar car to the one I drove back then!

Feeling like a Teenager Again
Much to my surprise, I have fond memories of driving you around the route. It was a time when you would talk to me about Audio Adreneline. And we would listen to the treasured “tape recordings”….Sometimes it would be Bon Jovi. I listened and I learned about your world.
