OK, I lied
Well – I kinda lied. I said I wouldn’t post anything about IU today – unless something develops. It sounds like things are moving towards a resolution.
* WTHR (Indy’s NBC affiliate) broke the story that Sampson is done at IU.
* The Hoosier Scoop, based in Bloomington, has mobilized on this story.
* A few days ago, The Hoosier Report explained some of the nuances of Sampson’s contract and outlined what the guidelines are for removal of Sampson from his responsibilities as coach.
* WISH TV (Indy’s CBS affiliate) is reporting that negotiations are underway to buyout said contract.
That’s all for now. Over the course of this week, I began hearing more support for keeping Sampson around. I’m sorry. When the guy was hired, we were all told that there would essentially be ‘zero-tolerance’ when it came to rules violations. Whether he lied to the NCAA or not, and whether the rules are minor rules or not, the fact remains that he repeated the same offense he was already in trouble for.
I just don’t get how a guy could just throw it all away like that.
