Dreaming

I was having lunch a few weeks ago with a guy and he asked me what my dreams are. I launched into the dream I’ve had for a while that a church can be a real community of believers that is able to be authentic with each other and will make an impact on the surrounding community…blah, blah, blah (I could go on for hours…but I’ll spare you…

for now…)

And so he nodded and said, “So, I take it you’ve been reading Rob Bell?”

I had to chuckle.

I’d never read or heard anything from Rob Bell, although I’ve definitely heard of him. He seems to be a polarizing figure in some circles. You either really, really like him or you think he’s some type of manifestation of the antichrist (OK, I’m only half joking…some people have avery strong, negative reaction to him). I read the recent article in RELEVANT Magazine about him (they haven’t posted the article yet, but I might come back and link to it here). And while there are several things about which I disagree with him, I found myself nodding in agreement with a lot of what I read. That’s not a bad thing.

Is it?
