A Discovery
I’ve discovered that I get much more nervous in preparation for a wedding than I do for a funeral. I’m conducting a funeral by myself for the first time tomorrow morning. And I’m really not that nervous.
On the other hand, even though it’s a few months away, I get a little nervous every time I think about the wedding I’ll be officiating in July. And I’ve been involved in many more weddings than funerals.
I wonder why.

Because no one video tapes a funeral… and puts it on America’s Funniest Home Videos…
🙂 Good luck!
Speaking of America’s Funniest Home Videos, I’ve never shown you the video from our wedding, have I? There was a camera in the back and I didn’t know you could see me on it. I’m making all kinds of crazy faces and dancing all goofy to the pretty prelude music. And it’s all on tape. We’ve thought about sending in a copy, but just never got around to it.
In addition to the lack of video equipment, I think weddings are more conversational and there’s no pulpit to hide behind. Sometimes even thinking of doing another wedding makes me throw up a bit in my mouth.
OK – it’s not that bad. Really. It’s not.
