I’m curious
IU is in overtime against Illinois. It’s tied with less than a minute to go. Illinois has been woeful from the line all night.
I wonder why IU doesn’t foul them immediately when they get the ball? Kinda like the ‘Hack-a-Shaq‘ strategy.
**Update** Maybe they’re not trying that approach because the refs aren’t calling anything. DJ White got mugged on his last-second desperation attempt and the ref didn’t call anything. The refs seem to have been pretty consistent, though. They’re not calling anything on either side. Now it’s on to 2nd overtime. And I really need to go to bed. It’s 11:30 and I have a big day tomorrow. But I can’t go to be now, can I?
**Update #2** It seems like both teams did their best to send this game into a 3rd overtime (including Eric Gordon getting a bone-headed 10-second violation and IU allowing a 5 point lead slip away in the final seconds), but the Hoosiers managed to hold on. Wow. At least it’s encouraging to see that IU can work its way out of some funky shooting droughts against an inferior team (on paper) that was giving it their all.
Now I can rest easy, I guess.
