Christmas Eve

OK – so I’m a little late posting Christmas pictures. Is there really any surprise? I think not. Here’s a rundown from Christmas Eve.

Christy whipped up a fabulous Christmas Eve dinner consisting of turkey breast with sage butter, whipped potatoes, green beans (food Network style), rolls, and homemade cranberry sauce. Dessert? Bread pudding with a chocolate ganache. Recipes were all courtesy of Food Network – especially Tyler Florence. Good stuff!

The turkey is wrapped in bacon with a sage butter placed underneath the skin. Generally, I’m not a fan of white meat. But this stuff was great! Might have been the best turkey I’ve had.

The turkey is sliced and ready to eat!!

After dinner we went to church for the candlelight Christmas Eve service. There were about 80 people there – which is pretty good considering many people were visiting family out of town! It was a simple, beautiful service (probably because I wasn’t the one who planned it) and I’m still hearing good comments about it!

As with many families, we have a Christmas tradition of giving the kids new pajamas to wear Christmas Eve & Christmas morning. After church, the kids opened their pajamas.

Then, it was time to get ready for Santa to come. We didn’t have time to fix cookies for Santa this year, so we gave him a Christmas Tree snack cake. Alyson thought we should give him something healthier, too. So he was given a banana, too. We also scattered food outside for Rudolph & Co.

Scattering oats…

As you can see, Santa enjoyed his snack cake and banana. We didn’t have enough room under the tree, so Santa left gifts by a bench in the nearby dining room. He didn’t leave all of the gifts there, however. He did manage to sneak one present for the entire Todd family under the Christmas tree. That sneaky Santa. He wanted to sneak in an ironing board because we really need one. It didn’t really fit in his sleigh, though. It’s a good thing, too. We’re really enjoying our quesadilla maker!

See? It’s a full tree…
