Snow Measurement III
As of about an hour and a half ago, we were at 6 inches – but I’m thinking I might have measured a bit of a snow drift. The wind is blowing around the snow like crazy. It’s pretty cool to watch – not much fun to walk through, however.
The snow forced us to cancel services this morning. At least now I have my sermon ready for the Sunday after Christmas! I have the next few months charted out, but I still wasn’t sure what I’d preach about that Sunday. Now I know. It’ll fit perfectly because today’s sermon was supposed to be about finding joy. Seems to me that might be even more appropriate after Christmas when the post-holiday blues set in. I’ll just have to modify the sermon a little bit. This is also good since we’ll be pretty busy that week.
It also gives me time to work on a memorable illustration for the sermon. I thought of it later in the week, but didn’t really have the time or the resources to get it together by today. Now I have another two weeks to fine-tune it. While I don’t exactly think God sent this snowstorm to give me extra time to improve my sermon, I do think the timing certainly helps!
