Happy Birthday, Luke Skywalker!
A long time ago (OK…30 years ago) in a galaxy far, far away (well, Hollywood does seem like it’s in its own universe sometimes)…
The world as we knew it was changed. Who would have thought that the story of a farm boy and his friends taking on a gigantic, powerful Empire would resonate with so many people for such a long time? Who would have thought that Summer movies would never be the same?
Yes – 30 years ago today, Star Wars “put the butter back on popcorn,” as Spielberg once said. It was fun to go to movies again. And, for better or worse, the Summer Blockbuster was born.
This year’s crop – Pirates of the Caribbean, Spiderman 3, Fantastic 4, Transformers, etc. all owe a debt of gratitude to the man who dreamed of a young farm boy from the planet of Tattooine who dreamed he could travel the stars. In the process, he changed the galaxy…
You really should check out the gallery from the Vader Project. Some of the creations are pretty impressive.
