What was I thinking?
Now that I’ve gotten my name out to some churches looking for a preacher, I’ve run into a small speedbump. They seem to want a recording of a recent sermon of mine.
I have manuscripts from my recent sermons, but no recordings. I tried to videotape it once at Summit back when it was Southside (here’s a post about that experience), but you can’t really hear me because my voice was going out. Besides, it wasn’t your average “three points and a prayer” type of sermon. It was ‘cutting-edge’ remember? I don’t think some of these churches will be ready for such a change.
I have recordings from four years ago. I’ve grown in my preaching since then. I don’t think I really want to share these with anyone.
I’ve preached several times this year and didn’t once bring any type of recording device to the service. Now I need to figure out a way to get one of my sermons recorded within the next few weeks. I know I’ll be recording some sermons for some of my classes this semester, but those don’t start till the end of March. I don’t think these churches want to wait that long. Here’s hoping another church needs a substitute in the pulpit in the very near future.
What was I thinking?

recording
did that church you preached at a few times make a recording of any of your sermon’s, you might try to call them to see.

Re: recording
No such luck. I know they didn’t record any of them. I do, however, know they took my picture during the inaugural service. That doesn’t really help in this situation, though.
It was a good thought, though!
