A new “beau”
The kids’ school served Thanksgiving dinner for lunch today and invited parents to eat with them.
The Kindergarten classes came dressed as Native Americans (I think “Indians” is back to the politically correct term…I think) and Pilgrims. I’ll post some pictures later (I hope).
We ate lunch with Aly first. OK – she ate and we watched. Her class eats so early that we decided to wait for Aiden’s class and eat with him. Shortly after I sat down, a little boy said this to us:
Boy: Alyson’s gots herself a boyfriend.
Us: Oh really? Who?
Boy: Me!
We’ve heard lots about Tanner. We’ve even caught Alyson writing their names together on art paper. This must be serious!
Kinda makes me wonder what it will be like when she gets closer to her teens.
May God have mercy on us all.

Aunt Liz says….
This is SO SCARY!!! It’s time to start talking to Alyson about what she knows about Tanner spiritually. Has he declared Jesus as Lord? Does he make healthy choices for himself? Does he have plans for a career that will be able to support a family? Is he the “marrying” type?

Re: Aunt Liz says….
Yesterday, she drew a picture of her and Tanner together. Then she put big dots on both of their mouths. I asked her what that was.
She said, “We’re kissing.”
I asked, “So, does that happen a lot?”
“Yeah. We kiss like this.” Then she kissed Aiden on the cheek.
This is getting out of hand!
Natives
The lady in my class that is Native American does not like to be referred to as “Indian” and says that they are to be referred to as “Native Americans” or “Native people.”
Did you know that Native Americans do not like to be captured on film?

Re: Natives
The Cherokees we visited in North Carolina had no problem with the term “American Indian.” In fact, they seemed to have preferred it over “Native Americans.”
Maybe it’s a regional thing?
