Ceremonial Dance
Ceremonial Dance

After we left our campsite Sunday morning (more pictures later), we toured Cherokee, NC, home of the Eastern Band of the Cherokees. There were several platforms with different groups performing ceremonial dances of tribes throughout North America.
As people walked by, the MC would try to get them to stop and watch for a while. Maybe they’d learn something. They’d also be more likely to leave a tip, too. When one couple walked by, he said:
“Come on, stay for a while. There’s nothing to be scared of. We won’t scalp you. You know why we don’t scalp anymore, don’t you? Because we have the casino. Now we just take your money instead of your head.”
I’d imagine it’s much more profitable that way. I’d imagine it also increases the likelihood of return customers!
