Cowbells and Carousels

For the third year in a row, we went to the Appalachian Fair. Other than the Fall Festival, I wouldn’t say I’m necessarily the fair/carnival kinda guy. It was fun to watch the kids, though. Blair and Paula came with us, and we also hooked up with Nancy (they’re all part of our Community Group). We tried to wait around for , but we missed each other by about a half an hour. Too bad. I was looking forward to meeting her new man.
Alyson, however, has been planning on yesterday’s trip for over a week. She somehow got her hands on a brochure about the fair. Every time we’d get in the car, she’d pull out her “map” and plan out our adventure. She told us she wanted to see the cows make milk and look at the
pretty girl who’s gonna get married” (a.k.a. the Fairest of the Fair winner). She also got to ride on some “big people” rides, including the Ferris Wheel and the swinging pirate ship ride.
Because yesterday was buy one/get one free rides until 6 p.m., we spent nearly 8 hours there yesterday. That’s the longest time we’ve ever spent at the Fair, and it was quite obvious that we left just in time. The kids were tuckered out by the time we got to our car.

Great pictures! No surprise that Alyson loved the rides–she’s fearless! Aiden looks about six in these pictures. Please post baby pictures.
So did she get to see that not very pretty girl that won first prize in the “marriageble female livestock” division?
Wow. That was mean, even for me. Hee hee.
No, she didn’t get to see her.
And yes, that was mean (even for you). Good thing you’re going into this whole chaplaincy thing…
You can kiss my big, round, chaplain booty.
