August Preview Service
Tonight was our August preview service. Next one is September 10.
I’ve come to discover that I get myself all worked up before these services. I’m still fairly new to the whole preschool ministry thing, so I kinda start to worry that some type of situation is going to come up and Waumba Land is going to go down in flames. I get these images in my head of 35 preschool children running around with 4 adults trying to maintain calm.
Fortunately, we’re not there yet. We had four preschoolers and two infants – not nearly as overwhelming for three adults and a teenage helper. Things went very well, even though one of the babies was teething and we didn’t have a teething ring for him. We had to call momma in to the rescue. I initially thought that made tonight some kind of failure because we try to do everything we can before having to bring in a parent. Those thoughts were gone a few minutes later when one of the kids told his parents that he had fun and wants to come back next time. He was a first-time visitor. That’s a very good thing.
We took pictures of the kids as they played dress-up (we talked about families, so they dressed up as different families…clown…farmers…a castle family…you know, standard kid fantasy stuff). Tomorrow we get to print those pictures out and send them to the kids as a follow-up. It should be fun to see the pictures.
I’m exhausted now. Time for bed.
