Free Fish!

Christy bought me an aquarium for our first Christmas that we were married. Since that time, it has housed several fish, but it has also remained dormant for far too long.

This past week, we began the process of returning the aquarium to its rightful state. Last night, the kids and I went and bought five new fish. Two Dalmatian Mollies, two Sunburst Platys, and an algae eater. Aiden thinks the “sucker fish” are cool, that’s why we have the algae eater. Aly loves dalmatians, so I thought Dalmatian Mollies would be cool, too. We went to bed with the fish already adjusted to their environment.

Aiden wakes me up this morning saying, “Daddy! There’s a baby fish in our aquarium!” I thought he was talking about the algae eater, or some speck of food or something. So I told him there wasn’t a baby fish. How could there be? I thought the Mollies were both male. Then he responded, “NO! There are seven fish in the tank!”

At that point, I got up to see what he was talking about. There was no way there could be seven fish in the tank. We had only bought five!

Actually, he was wrong.

There were twelve fish in our tank! One of the fish had babies.

When I left home after lunch, there were 23 baby Dalmatian Mollies! I guess we got a pretty good bargain on our investment. There’s no way our tank will be big enough for all of those fish when they begin to grow.

Anyone want some fish? They’re free to a good home.

I hope to have some pictures of the fish tank online sometime later today. Hopefully, you’ll be able to see the babies.
