Diary of a Worm
The kids ask me to read this story to them every night. The story is just what the title suggests, the journal entries of a young worm. Here’s my favorite journal entry:
“June 15:
My older sister thinks she’s so pretty. I told her that no matter how much time she spends looking in the mirror, her face will always look just like her rear end.” ~ Diary of a Worm
The kids don’t get the humor yet – and that’s quite OK with me.

That is one of my favorite children’s books! You guys will have to get the sequel “Diary of a Spider”! You also need to check out the another book by her, “Click, Clack, Moo, Cows That Type”. Oh, and “Lily’s Purple Plastic Purse” by Kevin Henkes. (Anything by him is a hoot.)
Also, if you have never read “Oliva” by Ian Falconer to Alyson, you’ll probably want to hop up here and borrow it. Alyson is “Olivia.” (Except for that whole pig part.)

You know, several people have told me this. Maybe we should look into this book…
