Good Old Rocky Top

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Bruce Pearl is one heck of a coach. I think many schools missed an opportunity to pick up this gem. If he sticks around long enough, the men’s Volunteer basketball program is going to make some noise in the college basketball world. Look at what he did with last year’s talent in what was supposed to be a transition year in his first season leading the Vols. Something has to be said about his coaching skills.

In other college basketball thoughts, UK fans gave Louisville a hard time today because of their cupcake schedule. UK fans? I think this is the only year they can pick on Louisville’s schedule. You’ve seen this brought up a couple of times (here and here) in MattDanTodd Land’s short history. It sounds like a case of the pot calling the kettle black, doesn’t it? Maybe that’s just me.

With all of my recent writings about the Wildcats, you’d think I was a closet fan or something. Rest assured, I’m not. It’s still tough for me to get excited when I see Indianapolis decked out in blue, because it reminds me of all of those fans in Lexington (…shiver…). I’m sure my Grandpa would roll over in his grave if I actually rooted for UK. No worries. That ain’t happenin’ in this lifetime.
