80 degrees, my foot

My parents went to Asheville for the Thanksgiving weekend. We went over to their hotel and hung out with them all day yesterday. It was great seeing them!

They stayed at a hotel that was practically all-inclusive, with a reception every weeknight. It’s a place I’d definitely consider visiting again sometime. During the stay, I swam with the kids in the hotel’s “heated” pool. The guy said the water was 80 degrees, but it sure didn’t feel like it. Teeth were chattering all around. The most important thing is that Aiden began to enjoy being in the water and started to learn how to swim! Too bad it was so cold that we only allowed him to stay in for about 15 minutes or so!

I think I’ve learned my lesson about staying in Asheville in the winter, though. The first year we were married, Christy and I stayed overnight in Asheville so we could visit the Biltmore and do some Christmas shopping. We chose a hotel with a “heated” pool. The heater was broken and the water was ice-cold.

Even with the cold pool, it was fun seeing my folks. It’s always hard leaving them – especially when it’s just a daylong trip.
