Free Speech Zone?

So, I’ve applied at an area bookstore and went through two interviews today. One of the things mentioned is this store’s belief in the freedom of speech – basically, people have the right to purchase whatever trash they choose. Am I willing to sell this to them without complaint or comment?

I had to laugh (to myself). Isn’t that still restricting someone’s freedom of expression? I mean, I could get fired over it. But, it’s not something I’m really going to lose sleep over.

Oh the paradox!

The only way I was able to go back for the second interview today was the fact that Kevin and Liz are down here this weekend and they graciously agreed to watch the kids, since Christy had to be at work. It has been so good to see them and be able to spend time with them. I think we all needed it. Now I don’t have to worry about them so much when they’re in Indy. I can see that life is still going on for them after Jaron’s death – and they are still handling it with more grace and strength than I imagine I could ever have mustered. Praise God for His provision – especially through the pain and suffering!

Too bad they’re heading home tomorrow. Every time I leave them, it gets harder to do so. There’s part of me that wants to transfer somewhere like Cincinnati Bible Seminary or Oakland City University – just so we can be closer to them. Of course, they don’t really have the program structured the same as Emmanuel’s – and I truly believe God has led us to this particular area for this particular time.

It’s still appealing, though! These fires out west have given me one more reason I’m glad we chose not to go to Phoenix!
