New Building
The wait is over!
On Monday, we closed on the “new” facility for the church! It’s an old auto shop with huge bays (gee – that sounds familiar…like the Fire Escape we did in Indy) and tons of possibilities. It’s definitely a fixer-upper! The roof, fortunately, is still under warranty, and is scheduled to be replaced this week. This is a good thing, because last week it was reported to have had 4 inches of standing water! It’s a miracle the roof didn’t cave in! The bay doors are coming down next week, and will be replaced with walls. There are 4 or 5 missions groups coming down this summer to help get the building ready for its Grand Opening the first Sunday of Fall Semester (August 28). There is a lot of work to do. We have time to get it done, though!
Part of my position as staff this Summer will be to help coordinate the different groups. At best, I’ll be taking one summer class that lasts a week, so I’ll have the time to dedicate to the restoration of this building. Should be quite an experience!
